40 injured, 2 dead in clash between two groups at Ghansoli
Vashi2Panvel.com: Navi Mumbai: March 16: In sudden rioting at Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai, this morning, 2 persons have died while 40 more have been injured, including a police official and a local leader. 3 cars have been burnt, 7 motorbikes including those belonging to a couple of policemen were also burnt. Two water tankers have also been set on fire. The Rapid Action Force have been called in. The whole area has been cordoned off by the police.
It started with an eve-teasing incident in Simplex Mathadi colony, Ghansoli, between 9 and 10 last evening. The offenders were allegedly from the neighbouring Ghansoli gaon. The Mathadi Colony is a huge colony housing a number of buildings, built specially for the Mathadi (quarry workers and casual labourers). As per first hand reports that have come in, a large number of villagers landed up in the Mathadi colony this morning to avenge the eve-teasing incident. Intensive stone-throwing between the two parties were reported. In the rioting PSI Pathan has been injured and admitted to MGM, Vashi. Narendra Patil, a Mathadi leader, is also grievously injured and has been admitted to MGM, Vashi. Dinesh Yede and Uma Waghmare
