Navi Mumbaikars happy with the budget?
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: February 28: Finance Minister P Chidambaram presented Union Budget for the fiscal year 2007-08 in Parliament today. It is said to be " aam aadmi Budget", for the first time in years, an impression of stability has been brought to tax rates . But stock market operators, and investors are particularly unhappy with the increase in dividend distribution tax by 2.5 percent. Whether the budget is good or bad and what were the expectations of Navi Mumbikares?
Vashi2Panvel.Com tried checks this out: Mrs. Manasi Redgankar, staying in New Panvel and a professor says, "I'm happy that special concessions have been given to women in tax, this time. But I'm actually waiting to know what difference it will make in my monthly expenditure as our Finance Minister has reduced taxes on oils and a few other edibles. " Mr Vivek Patil , MLA said " One main thing I wanted from the budget is increase in income of farmers. Employment generation for the small scale industrialist as they have to close their industries due to load shedding. Reduction in electricity rates, as it is the maximum in Maharashtra as compared to other states should have been there." Mr Amit Mehra, chief Marketing Excutive Vadilal, said, "The main thing I wanted is reduction in housing loan interest rates. There must be a reduction in daily items as well as the light bills. Income tax slab increase on the salary is welcome. " Dr Aditya. D, a veterinary staying in Nerul said, "I'm happy that excise duty is reduced on life saving drugs. I also want that pensioners should be removed from the tax bracket." Mr V Bhale, a senior citizen said from Panvel said "I want special benefits to be given to senior citizens in medicines as that is a big expense for all of us." Mr.Viphul. B, a Shopkeeper at APMC said, " I want the taxes on all items to reduce and the free trade be allowed between all states of India. He said on one hand we take on globalization and on the other hand we have to pay huge taxes to take goods from one state to another, if this is reduced then the inter-state trade will increase."
