Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: November 8: In this series of ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, we take a look at the NMMC corporators’ work, what they are delivering and if there have been any slip-ups. Here both corporators and residents come face-to-face. We now profile Corporator Rupali Vilas Sanas. She is responsible for NMMC Ward no.34, which covers Sector 15 and 16 partly i.e. the Row Houses area of Koperkhairne.

Rupali Sanas came to Navi Mumbai 7 years ago after her marriage, prior to which she was staying at her parental home at Wai. Mother of two, she strikes an enviable balance between house and work. She has the full family support and so can give more time to solve the problems of residents.

She is…

She is the Chief of ‘D’ Division Committee of NMMC and a loyal worker of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). She always has been working extensively for the cause of women. Though before marriage she had never been a part of active politics, she has always been keen on doing social work.

What have I done for my ward:

She has won over the people in her ward by creating self employment schemes for widows from her NMMC funds. She has also done a lot of work for economically weak ladies in her ward by giving them sewing machines or by forming Buchet Gut and also giving them technical training where needed. Every year health camps as well as blood donation camps are also conducted in her ward with her assistance. She also keeps Haldikumkum every year on February 19th i.e, Shivaji Jayanti, she proudly informed.

What is pending:

Beautification of the garden at Sector 16, and building a stage here is one work that she is waiting to finish. The stage could be used for family functions as most of the residents in her ward come from a middle class or poor families. She further also plans to use her Corporator Funds to built a Samaj Mandir, which can be used by all, for which permission has been taken by CIDCO. Gutters on main roads are to be beautified and water and drainage pipelines are to be changed.

What are my plans:

With the help of Ganesh Naik, Guardian Minister and volunteers of NCP she is sure to develop Koperkhairne as the most beautiful hub in Navi Mumbai. She is also planning to build pavements at Sector 16.

Richa Shrivasthav, IT Professional: “ We need better schools and colleges in our area as all of them are in Nerul or Vashi”

Mrs. Dalvi, a housewife: “The sub way at Koperkhairne. station must be repaired, as it is filled with water most of the time and it is very lonely for us to travel.”

Most of the other residents are waiting for the increase in trains on the Thane- Vashi route and also the extended route upto Nerul soon.
