Film Making: an emerging career

Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: September 8: With the changing scenario, the choice and interests of the people towards their career are varying. Gone are the times, when film making as a career option was not considered even as the last choice by the people. Today, the field has so many options to work upon that it has become first priority for most of the aspirants for this line. V2P spoke to Meera Mukundan, a mass media graduate who is doing a 6 month direction course with Digital Academy, Andheri to find out more on the options and scope in this career.

“I joined this course purely because this line fascinates me, it has so much to explore and discover that it widens your thinking span,” says Meera excitingly. “The creative aspect of the line helps you to imagine the unimaginable. In this field you are free to express your thoughts to the public in the most innovative manner, which you can present,” she adds. According to her, this is the best way to bring across your ideas to the masses.

“The subjects in the field are enormous, ranging from Script writing, camera handling, sound recording, which explains all the technical aspects of movie making,” she elucidates. The course also has subjects like psychology and mind reading, which helps the filmmaker to understand the thinking process of the viewers. “The best part is the psychology subjects which helps us to think on an idea in a much wider perspective,” she avers. The course requires the students to make a 15 min short film based on which the placements will be provided to them.

“The placement offers come from many renowned companies like Yashraj, RGV and production houses of the television media,” she informs. The students will be given chance to get interviewed by almost 5 companies through the academy. “The academy gives us ample opportunities and it depends upon the student how he exploits the chances provided at his door step,” she explains.

The field requires passion for movie making as one of the major requirement to enter the arena. “All those who are extremely interested in the field and are passionate about this career should go for this, one should just not get into this just because it is glamorous,” she avers.

“Film making” as a career requires lot of analytical, imaginative and conceptualizing skills. So, all those guys who have these skills can just go for it.
