Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: September 3: Today was a historical day for the Sikh community of the world. The day marked the 300th anniversary of the compilation of the holy text. Today is also the 402nd 'Prakash Divas’. Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar, Airoli was buzzing with hundreds of Sikh devotees this morning who had come to attend this ‘prakash divas’ by Sant Baba Narendra Singhji who is the head of Langar Saheb at Nanded. He entered in a plush car with ‘punj pyaare’ (five favourites) at around 10:30am. He was led to the room where the Holy Book was placed.
The gurudwara was resonating with
shabad keertan and
ardaas sung by women devotees. There was a lecture by a Sikh scholar, Prof Manmeet Singh who taught the values of life and lessons from the
Gurubani. At 11:45 sharp, Baba Narendra Singhji was led down. He emerged with Guru Granth Sahib along with the
punj pyaares all dressed in the holy yellow. After the rituals the
shabad keertan continued. The devotees were offered ‘kada prasad’ and langar which was open to the general public.
