Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: August 31In this series ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, we take a look at the NMMC corporators’ work, what they are delivering and if there have been any slip-ups. Here both corporators and residents come face-to-face. We now profile Corporator Nirmala Ashok Gawade. She is responsible for NMMC ward no.89, which covers Nerul Sectors 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 42A and 48A.

Nirmala Gawade's Report Card

She is..an active and sincere NCP worker full of confidence and patience, who has extensively worked for the cause of women, by involving herself with several women welfare organisations like Shree Ganesh Mahila Mandal Nerul, Jaybhavani Mahila Mandal Chinchpokli etc.

What have I done for my wards?
"I have arranged to repair roads with asphalting along with storm water drains and paved-footpath in sector- 42A and 48A.

I have permanently sorted out drinking water problems at Konkan Railway Society sector-38, by providing new water connection.

I have arranged cleaning of all vacant plots of my ward which were earlier in shabby shape. My ward is the recipient of first prize under Sant Gadge Baba Swachhata Abhiyan (St. Gadge Baba Cleanliness Drive), in 2005-06 .

I have set up an old age home at sector 48A.

In Sector-28 I have organised Gawdewadi Nagrik Path Sanstha to help poor, with loan and promoting saving scheme amongst them.

In Sector-28 through Shree Ganesh Mahila Mandal I am arranging employment for unemployed people like vegetable vending, cashew nut processing etc.
I am running Sanjeevani High School at sector-48, which is free for poor students."

What is pending
"Following projects are to be started soon for which necessary approvals are already arranged:

Renovation of market and building a community hall in sector 48A;

Green Gardens at sector-40 and 42; covering of nullah at sector-28;

Playground, garden with boating facilities at sector-26/28;

Ring road repair at sector-42A;

New Police Chowki at sector-48A;

Clinic for poor needy people at Sector-42/48;

Water reservoir at sector-50;

Foot over bridge from Shree Ganesh Society to Darave village."

What are my plans?
"I have a dream to set up a library and gymnasium at sector-38 near Kendriya Vihar Society and Sai Mandir at sector-48 and many more to be announced soon."

Public Opinion

Pradeep Kale from Sahyog Society, sector-48A said," Lot of rubbish is lying around the MSEB sub-station nearby, which can be cleaned and a garden can be developed there."

Bhagwat Ugal-mugle from Shree Ganesh Society, sector-28 said," Nirmala Gawade is doing good job for this area."

Chauhan from Sai-sadan Society sector-40 said "We have no idea about work done by corporator in this area"

George from Panchali Society sector-42 said,"The bell-van (Ghanta-gadi) is not coming punctually to collect garbage."
