Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: July 20: The Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies (CIDCO) has a challenging task under the present scenario of tense working environment in a new city like Navi Mumbai. Mr. Bali Rathod, a 56 years old sincere and energetic person is operating this office successfully for last two years. A Graduate in arts and law, his optimism and positive approach to tackle issues of co-operative societies, has made him popular in no time, within the co-operative sector of this twin city. V2p took an exclusive interview of this seasoned official. The excerpts of Interview: V2P : What is the general nature of work you handle?
I have to ensure smooth functioning of all Co-operative Housing Societies from Thane to Panvel area. Co-operative societies pertaining to residential and commercial complexes, playground and other such complexes are included in our scope of work. Model by-laws for all these have been formulated by Navi Mumbai Co-operative Housing Societies Federation.

V2P : Do you feel public is properly aware with Co-operative Housing Society concept?
Most of the members of the co-operative societies do not keep copies of bye laws, and even who possess it, do not read it properly. I sincerely appeal to all members of societies to develop an awareness towards all statutory directives, bye laws etc. and use their right.

V2P : What is the main cause of differences amongst members and how do you sort it out?
As the half knowledge is always dangerous, this is the root cause of all problems. Due to incomplete knowledge or misunderstandings difference of opinion arises, and this is the stage when disputes starts. If people consult us just during the infant stage of problem, we solve it easily by imparting proper information to them However for chronic issues, where lot of ego factors are involved within several groups of a single society and we have to work hard to sort out things by hearing patiently all parties.

V2P: What are your steps to groom up members to maintain proper harmony?
We are organising various conferences, seminars etc. to educate our citizens to use their own opinions and senses whenever they want to take any decision. We also put emphasis on various precautions to be taken for title and Share transfers, cash payments and similar other sensitive transactions.

V2P: What is your message to society at large?
The concept of co-operative societies is purely based on the success of unity in diversity. In most of the societies you will find people from different states, castes, colours, creeds, religions, languages, living and eating habits. Inspite of all these different variables the one thing is common when they say "This is my society and I am proud of it". This eliminates all differences, and for any common cause they unite and face jointly. This is the one of the main reason, why metro living this way has been accepted widely.
