This increasingly competitive environment is prevalent not only at the higher level but is also at the grass root level. The Playschool to which a kid goes also holds a lot of importance in the present scenario. With the coming up of innumerous play schools it is quite a taxing job for a parent to decide which playschool should they send their child to.
Many play schools have sprung up in Navi Mumbai today, which promise state of the art education along with great infrastructure and good facilities to the kids. The “Kidzee-Kids Valley” owned by Zee Network is the most sought after schools in terms of the academic standards and amenities. They have an academic curriculum, which is designed by the Zee Network Education group. They have professionally qualified teachers who give personal attention to every student. The added features include covered play area, squash pool, sand pit, and puppet theatre to improve the imagination capability of the kid. Mugdha Ojha, the centre head of Kidzee, Nerul says that, “It is very important that a kid gets the right kind of environment in his initial days of education, which he will carry him forward. It gives him the freedom to explore his creativity and capability, this also in turn makes him a confident individual,” she adds. Wonderkids another play school, which is situated in Vashi, asserts the same opinion. “We try and make them independent. They are away from their parents for 2-3 hrs and thus, learn to be with different people and interact freely,” says Ms. Anita Kunder.

Choosing the right play school is also a very pivotal decision for parents today. “Choosing the right school is an important decision for the future of our child, it is the stepping stone in their lives. She is very small and I don’t know if she would adjust to the new environment,” says Mrs.Gurvinder Kaur, a New Panvel resident whose 3 yr old kid is preparing herself to go to school.

There are also parents who are skeptical about the effects that these schools have on their child’s mind. “The child’s mind is innocent. The only worry which I face is that the peer group that they interact with are good enough,” says Mr.Satish Pandey whose kid is going to Sherville play school in New Panvel.

The minds of kids are very impressionable. The profile and the teachings of a playschool act as a building block to a kid’s bright future. “The play school is the first interaction of the child to the society in a formal way. The kind of impact, which it has on the kid, is immense,”says Dr.Prakriti, M.G.M Hospital, Kalamboli. “This is the age when you gather information. The kind of information you receive depends on the peer group. So, it is the most important part of education,” she simplifies further.
