Wet-n-Wild: Enjoy the rains in Navi Mumbai
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: June 27: Water dripping out of tender leaflets, kids playing in the puddle, a mélange of colourful umbrellas, a hot cuppa coffee and garama garam bhajias… does that lighten up any memories? Outdoor in the rains is a truly exhilarating experience- lush green mountain top, the smell of wet earth, the heady feeling of walking in the clouds… That’s monsoons! Vashi2Panvel.Com gives you some fantastic ideas to welcome the monsoons…Chek ‘em out!
Waterfall-rappelling: Rappel down the magnificent canyon walls, and hang in mid-air, with water falling right on your head... Mumbai-based Wild Escapes has organized waterfall-rappelling for those who love the waters. Climbing a rocky terrain with ropes and water gushing down your head…Voila! The day trip is to Malshej Ghat on July 7. So, don’t miss it if you truly want to enjoy the downpours this season! The budget, Rs.650 per person, might pinch at a first glance but it’s inclusive of breakfast, lunch, tea, snacks, equipments and transport…What more? Enroll yourself and enjoy an escapade with the rains! Rain dance: Like every year, Nerul Gymkhana is planning a rain dance this year too. Kamlesh Thakkar, Secretary (Nerul Gymkhana) says, “We have organized rain dance for July last week. This is our annual event. We have not confirmed the date as yet but the show will definitely be there. We are trying to rope in the best DJ and this event would be a great hit! Soccer: Monsoons and soccer-that’s one combination sports enthusiasts world over vouch for. And, sports enthusiasts from Navi Mumbai need not frown for there are many activities for them in store. Vashi based Marine Centre has put up a big display (they say, it’s the biggest in Navi Mumbai) to screen the ongoing Soccer World Cup. So, for all those who love the rains but only from a distance, watching soccer over piping hot coffee and late dinner is certainly not a bad idea! The entry is free and you only have to pay for the extra goodies you buy to slake your hunger… Weekends witness a horde of sports zealots so that’s also the place to make more friends…right? And, if you’re more sporty, you might prefer the Sunday soccer matches at Nerul Gymkhana. According to Thakkar, “People enjoy playing games during monsoons. And, if it’s soccer there are bound to be many aficionados. We organize Sunday soccer matches for our members.” So can non-members not avail the privilege? “Yes, they can. A member can bring along a guest with him,” he replies. Getaways: And, if all this does not seem like your cup of tea then there are scores of exquisite getaways in the satellite city. Take a car and go to Parsik Hills in CBD Belapur. The view of the entire city from the hilly terrain looks astounding and if it rains the view is awe-inspiring. It’s one of the best picnic spots here. Besides, there is Kharghar Hills which is just as beautiful as the Parsik Hills. Also, the inconspicuous ‘Broken Bridge’ in Diwale gaon is one of the most romantic places in the city. ‘Broken Bridge’ during monsoons is one place you cannot afford to avoid! So, don't dread the heavy downpour. Throw away those umbrellas and do some 'chhapak-chhapak' in the rains! You'll love it... Swati Pandey
