But it is not possible to pack up and go for a holiday every weekend. What many people are not aware of is the fact that we need not travel too far for a weekend getaway. Doctor's Farm:

It is known as Doctor’s Farm by the locals, residing at Kolad and is situated on the Mumbai-Goa highway. The approximate time taken to travel from Mumbai to Kolad by road is roughly 2 1/2 hours.

Day picnickers are charged Rs. 350/- per person for non-vegetarian fare, and 300/-per person for vegetarians . Rates would be suitably reduced for large groups..The charges for one day stay are Rs.800/-per person per day for non-veg ,and Rs.700 per person per day for veg.

Wild animals like Peacocks, Wild fowl. Rabbits, Deer, River turtles, Wild boar, and an enormous variety of birds can be found here.

One can indulge in various activities here, such as boating, swimming and fishing. While there is a small pool and a slide for kids, there is a larger pool and waterfall for adults. Also there is a play pen for kids and an open maidan for playing outdoor games.The sight seeing destinations here include Shivaji’s famous Raigad Fort, Ghosala Fort, Kuda Caves and Beach, Tala Fort, and Bhira Dam. One can also go trekking and hiking here as the farm is amidst forests, hills, and barren steep cliffs.

Sai Farm, Kolad

Located 120 kms from Mumbai on Mumbai-Goa highway is an approx. 3 hours drive from Panvel ST stand. Sai farm is spread over a large area and is situated on the banks of all-season River Kundalika. The river is just apt for boating, fishing and swimming.

The Gabby Gonsalves & Family, who own this farm, gives a warm and hospitable welcome to all.
This is a must visit if you’re a nature lover for this place is surrounded by a wide range of trees.

For overnight accommodation there are dome-shaped cottages made of ferro-cement that keeps rooms warm in winters and cold in summers. Also, the cottages are equipped with all modern amenities.

A weekend stay will definitely rejuvenate your spirits and make you feel fresher on return. Other options to freak out could be a nearby lake and a hike to a waterfall.

Apollo NUSI Wellness Retreat

Located at Wadorli Village near Panvel (Maharashtra, India) at 65 kms from Mumbai (5 kms off Old Mumbai-Pune Road), Apollo is characterized by hills and green farms on all sides and quiet surroundings.
