Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: June 6: Shashi Ranjan, a 2006 B.Tech (Information Technology) pass out of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere initially wanted to do B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication, but as she could not get that branch, she had to join Information Technology. Now, after joining the course and spending four long years in the field of Information technology she feels that she made the right choice.

About the course: I feel that it is a very detailed and analysed programme which includes an array of subjects ranging from networking to programming. The practical aspect linked with the subjects leaves you with loads of realistic knowledge. I loved Networking, it is really interesting. It is a very vast field with many exciting areas to work in.

About the college: I earlier thought that the college was one boring place located at the outskirts with no city in vicinity, but after actually joining the college I felt it was amazing. The facilities provided by the college to complete all our projects and assignments are up to mark, whereas there should be some development in other areas as it is a government college, things happen but it takes a lot time. The placement record of the college is fantastic and there is a lot of scope.

About the career: I feel I am lucky to have chosen this branch because IT is a booming field now with so many companies having thousands of openings. There are many multinational companies which require so many freshers from this field as of me; I would be going for M.B.A. after a few years.

Now that it has been four years, I feel there is more to this course than just placements, knowledge and fun. It has given me an entire new thinking and a new outlook towards the career, which was absent earlier. At the end I would like to say that I will definitely miss the hostel room and all our immature nuisance.
