Durga Jasraj:“I relish sev batata puri”
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: May 6: Durga Jasraj, daughter of Pandit Jasraj, made her mark in singing just like her father. Though backed by her father and his talent, Durga knew how to make her place in the hearts of the people and did so with her own determination and talent. Also acted in a few films like Masoom, Aaja Meri Jaan and co-hosted the most popular show on television Antakshari, Durga is a nightingale her father must be proud of.
Durga is fond of all kinds of food, whether home made or outside. “Homemade food has a very special taste so in homemade all is welcome, but with the kind of profession I am in, traveling is necessary, so I have developed a liking for outside food as well. I like everything wetter it is Chinese, Punjabi, Italian Lebanese, Mexican or Ethiopian. Since I have traveled so much, I have tried everything and liked everything. The only kind of food I don’t like is French food for I have a very pungent taste not satisfied by French food at all”, she says. “I also love cooking and make amazing Mutton And Chicken Biryani, Palak Chicken, Methi Malai Ghosht or anything in non-veg. I also make nice Aaloo Mattar”, she adds. “I’m not very fond of sweets but like cakes and pastries that are well made. I hate burgers and infact love the pani puri and bhelpuri you get on the streets. I simple adore sev batata puri and can binge on it anytime. 3-4 times a week I have food outside because I travel a lot and have favourites everywhere. In the suburbs I like to go To Urban Tadka, Grand Maratha, Holiday Inn for its Chinese, Poptakes or Legacy Of China. While I’m in town I like to go to Gypsy”, she says. Durga is extremely hygiene conscious so much so that when she goes to have her favourite pani puri, she takes her bottle of water and gives it to the bhaiya for him to make her pani puri in that! “If you ask them to, why won’t they make it for you the way you like it”, she insists. “I watch out what I eat but am not very particular or strict about my diet. I just judge what my intake for the day is and make sure it’s healthy enough. I go for walks everyday and don’t work out at gyms because never get regular at it because of work schedules”, she adds. “Don’t over eat but don’t diet either is what Durga has to say to her fans.
