Even as eye-brows are being raised about the economic viability of the Rs. 100 crores plus cost of constructing Asia’s most ultra-modern stadium in Nerul, Vijay Patil is all set to recover 1 ½ times the cost from the very first batch of 3000 life memberships to be offered, probably from June-July this year.

The proposed Rs. 3-5 lakh club membership on offer, will be an exclusive status symbol, that will entitle attendance at international cricket, football stadium in Nerul. The stadium will house theme restaurants, swimming pools, fitness caters, etc. of world class quality. Vijay Patil is evidently committed to sourcing the best materials and technology from all over the globe, to design and build this state-of-the-art sports stadium in the city. Even the special earth for the cricket field has been shipped from South Africa, a source informed.

The 60,000 capacity stadium with suspended roofing and the international tournaments to be held at this venue, will surely catapult Navi Mumbai to become one of the most favored destinations of cricket, football and rugby fans worldwide. The construction of the stadium is on in full swing and should be ready for the first international cricket match by March 2007, according to an official overlooking the construction work.

This landmark project will boost the fortunes of the city as also of the proposed first ever prestigious Navi Mumbai based international sports club, promoted by Vijay Patil.

In the second phase of this project, the first 7-star hotel of the city is planned to be constructed, adjacent to the stadium complex. The 200 guests capacity hotel will cater to the international cricket, football and rugby team members and officials participating in the tournaments at the stadium.

The hi-profile club will be affiliated to leading world bodies of cricket, football and rugby, it is reliably learnt, that would make it one of the most privileged club memberships in the continent.
