Vashi2Panvel.com: Navi Mumbai: April 13: Vashi witnessed a huge Hanuman Jayanti celebration, the birthday of Lord Hanuman, at the Hanuman Temple, Sector 16 today.

The petite temple was adorned with flowers and colourful papers for the D-day. Hindu devotees from Vashi, Koperkhairane, Airoli, and Nerul thronged the temple at wee hours of the morning to attend the grand aarti.

Ravi Sharma, a Nerul resident had come to pray for his son who had just given his S.S.C exam and was eagerly waiting for his result. “I hope he scores well and has a bright future ahead. I have also performed havan for his well being,” says Sharma.

For Vashi resident Sheela Kulkarni it is a grand day. She says, “On this day I prepare sweets like Puran poli, Karanji, shakarpada etc. I also pray to the lord to save us from the evil eyes.”

For this festival many had decorated their shops with flowers, colourful objects and eatables. Women in attires of varied hues observed fast and offered fruits to the Lord.
