Pay your way to success

Vashi2Panvel: Navi Mumbai: March 2: Some of the valuable lessons of life come from those first precious pay cheques. Receiving your first pay cheque is one of the most priceless moments that one experiences. While one person might spend his first pay packet on pampering himself with maybe an ipod or a new pair of shoes or for that matter by going for a complete makeover, another might just get joy in splurging his first pay on his near and dear ones and decide to take his parents or his girlfriend out to dine. It’s just a matter of what gives you satisfaction and pleasure.

When you get your first hard earned money in your hands it’s not how much you get that matters but that you are capable of getting it that matters and builds a confidence level in an individual.

At that moment in life it’s more about a learning experience and also a first brush with a different and a competitive lifestyle. Like the Kaanta Laga girl Shefali Jariwala puts it, “My first pay packet comprised of Rupees 5000. I got it when I was fresh out of school; I had participated in a research survey.”

The first pay leaves a mark in the minds of the people and that is one of the reasons why most people remember what their first job was and how they spent the first pay packet.

Like Supriya Pilgaonkar of Nach Baliya fame puts it, “I got my first pay packet for a children theatre where I played the role of Cindrella, I was paid Rupees 50 for that and it was a beautiful feeling.”
The common observation that one gets to see is that mostly youngsters blow away their first pay packets and indulge in spending lavishly, but in contradiction to this common observation our celebrity brigade is a loyal lot and most of them handed over their first pay cheques to their folks.

The hot and sensational Tanushree Dutta who was the former Miss India and also made her acting debut with Aashiq Banaya Aapne received her first pay cheque when she was in her junior college and that was when she walked on the ramp for the first time. “I had received Rupees 700 for a fashion show and I gave the money to my mother. She is a very spiritual person so she bought a Ganesha idol with that money for our home-mandir.”

While Tanushree Dutta’s mother used her daughters first pay packet to instil religious believes in her daughter’s mind, Supriya Pilgaonkar’s father used his daughter’s first pay cheque to inculcate banking habits in his daughter, “I gave the money to my parents but my father returned the money back to me and made me deposit the cash in the bank. So in a way I also had a brush with my first banking experience on receiving my first paycheque.”

Expressing the same point of view is the Kaanta Laga girl Shefali Jariwala who also experienced her first banking practice after she received her first cheque. “My mother opened a new bank account for me and deposited my first salary in that account and till today I prefer using that account.”

TV actress and singer Rajeshwari Sachdev handed over her first cheque to her grandfather. The stunning Sangeeta Ghosh did a lot of assessment but could not recollect what her first job was. All she could memorize was that she had handed over the money to her mother. Sailing in the same boat is Gurpreet Singh, who plays Sujal in Kahiin To Hoga, “Well all I can remember is that I gave the money to my parents but I really cannot recollect what my pay packet was and what was my first job profile.”
