Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: February 2: Creative art demands the service of a mind and heart, said the great poet William Wordsworth. So timeless is his quote, that it is applicable even today. And one place it was certainly applicable was at the SIES College of Arts Science and Commerce Gymkhana today, where the Fine Arts Circle of the College had organized Aakriti 2006, their annual art exhibition cum sale.

On sale were some pieces of jewellery and handbags made by the students themselves. Considering that the pieces were handmade, yet flawless, they were quite worth their price tags. Says, Janice, the Fine Arts Circle Secretary, "This is an annual event in the college but this time it got delayed. We wanted it to be done so badly, so we decided to do it even though it is the fag end of the academic year."

Some outstanding pieces of art included fabric painting on a pillow cover, a stain glass painting and a watercolour painting of a scenery. Clay pots painted in various shades, some with sequins, some with mirrors, some with glitter and some with sceneries were also on display. But the highlight of the event was the Mehendi creation, where students drew beautiful patterns on hands in just 5-10 minutes.

The exhibition is something that the 'arty' students of the college look forward to as they get to display their works of art, some of which are actually sold.
