Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: January 30: Glitz and glamour is how one would associate NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) with and why not? The institute boasts of the budding design and style gurus who let their creative juices out to create a style statement! Now the NIFTians (Mumbai) are in their creative best as they are doing word play, colour-play and of course style play! Well, the NIFT students are all geared up for their annual cultural festival Spectrum-2k6. The three-day festival slated to commence from 2nd February will witness an entire gamut of events catering to students from various colleges and streams.
“Spectrum is one of the best cultural festivals of not just Mumbai but the whole of India. We always try to do something new and different every year and so is this year too. Be it drawing or script writing, fashion styling or ramp shows, rock competition or group dance and singing…you name it and it is all under our roof,” claims Nida Haque, Spectrum Head while adding, “We also have educative workshops and seminars. So, there are workshops on fashion styling, advertising, designing and script writing. It is going to be one fun and informative event for the participants.”
This year, the theme of the festival is ‘Super-Heroes’. So, the campus will be adorned with ‘instruments’ and ‘props’ that closely resemble the theme. So while we saw a group of students preparing posters that blare out the theme aloud, another group was busy making larger-than-life cobwebs that would serve as roadblocks on the D-day.
“In our institute, the strength of the students is far lesser as compared to other colleges so here each and every student works and slogs for the event to be a success. ‘Fashion Show’ and ‘Brands on the Ramp’ are the USP of this fest and we are sure all these events will rock our campus this year too!” says Piyush Singh, PR-Head, Spectrum 2k6.
