I am fussy about men : Rimi Sen

Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: January 20: The new chic on the block, a Rani Mukherjee look-alike, is a Bong beauty and is already being compared to the Bongs of the film fraternity—the sultry sex siren Bips, the husky voiced Rani and even the veteran Kajol. “I don’t know why these comparisons? They are much above me. And it’s unfair to them if these comparisons are being made. I’ve only acted in a few films now and I’ve a long way to go before I can be counted amongst them,” she argues.

Rimi Sen who has an air of mystery around her always prefers to maintain a low profile. One hardly finds her attending the grand socialite parties that make to the Page 3s of every national daily. “I hate to do a “pomp-pomp” about my work, likes and dislikes. My work alone should speak for me,” she makes a point. “I’m not a party person as well. Many think that I’m being an egotist. It’s not so. I just like to be within my own world that I’ve created for myself,” she says.

She has had two projects with Akshay Kumar and feels that he is one of the best co-stars a newcomer can get. “Akshay Kumar is a wonderful human being. He’s very down-to-earth despite the success he has achieved in this industry. I’m very fortunate to have been able to work with him when I was still very raw. It was a very good experience and I would like to work with him again,” she says. And how about John Abraham? “I did not get a chance to work with him,” she says. Wasn’t she the one to star in Garam Masala opposite Akshay and John? “Yes, I was there in Garam Masala but it was a cameo. I really did not get a chance to act with John as such,” she clarifies. Is there any other actor she has not worked with as yet but is looking forward to working with in the future? One would think it is Amitabh Bachchan but she contradicts, “I’ve already worked with Amitabh Sir in Baghban. One actor I’m really waiting to be cast opposite with is King Khan, Shah Rukh,” she says. Any future projects with Shah Rukh in her kitty? “No, not yet,” she says.

Rimi is shooting for Fir Hera Pheri with Akshay, Paresh, Suniel and Bipasha. Another film lined up is Golmaal with Ajay Devgan, Tushar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi, both of which are comedy flicks. She’s also signed a film with Sriram Raghavan (called "Johnny Gadaar") who made "Ek Hasina Thi". “But I don’t want to make comic roles my forte. I’m open to all kinds of roles only if I get good offers,” she says. Does she have any character in mind that she would love to play in the future? “I want to act in a woman-centric movie where I can exhibit my real acting talent. The character I would like to play is of a vengeful female like Madhuri Dixit in Mrityudand or even Rani in Black."

Like the current trend of moving south for greater opportunities goes, even Rimi is open to moving down south if a better and meaty offer attracts her. Ask her about this new phenomenon called ‘South calling’ and she replies, “I can move south if the offers are attractive but nothing’s happening as of now.”

The girl who got all the recognition and fame with the one Coca Cola ad she did with Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai always refrains from talking about her personal life to the media. Talking about her wedding plans or the man in her life only brings a frown to her face. Currently her career is the top priority and there’s no time for love! “I did not really have to struggle a lot before entering this industry considering I had no back up from anyone already from this sector. But I made it big and worked with all the top-notch film directors and production houses. I believe I’ve been able to set a certain standard for myself and I have to keep up to the image so I’m only concentrating on my career and nothing else,” she says.

So what kind of a man is she looking forward to? “I’ve absolutely no idea about it. I’m very fussy when it comes to men and right now I’ve put all this in the back gear of my life! And there’s a long way to go before I make such a big decision about it.”

Though currently there’s no one in Rimi’s life, she doesn’t even seem to have any affinity with someone from the filmdom. “I’ve never thought about any young heroes who could fit the bill of being the ‘eligible bachelors’,” she says when asked about the most eligible bachelor in the industry according to her. “Well, there are so many and they are all good in their own might so they are all eligible!” she beams. Any favourites Ms Sen? “No,” she gives a terse reply. Rimi also reveals a surprising fact that she doesn’t even have the slightest picture as to what her man of dream must be like. “I’ve never thought about it.” she says with a laugh.
