Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: January 5 : Milantirtha, a socio-cultural organisation of New Panvel, is all set to inaugurate its newly constructed community centre at its Sector-13 Kali Mata temple annexe, New Panvel, on Sunday, 8th January, 2006. A long cherished dream of the many Bengalees, who dwell here in this once sleepy town of New Panvel for almost two decades, finally comes true.

A campaign that started with some dedicated people in the late eighties, the organisation has come a long way and with the vigour of youth and experience it configures in itself a blend of societal and intellectual flavour. Senior members remember the days when financial support was meager and the pain they had to experience to convince the town planners the urge for such a centre. Now that the stage is set and the shamiana almost there, the New Panvelites cutting across the segmentations of pluralistic society, can rejoice of Milantirtha’s achievements.


The community centre has a library, indoor games facilities and sprawling halls that will be used for social and cultural functions. The day long celebrations on the d-day will commence with a vedic ritual to be performed by priests of Ramakrishna Math, Khar in the morning followed by prasad in the afternoon. Swami Vagishanandaji Maharaj, the President of the Math will finally inaugurate it in the evening following which there will be an hour-long religious discourse by Swamiji. Also scheduled for the evening are devotional songs.

Prominent personalities from the city have been invited for this celebration. The authorities have not fallen short of phrases of appreciation, when it comes to the thanksgiving to all the patrons and well-wishers who have ensured financial support to this extraordinary effort, besides the tireless attire of its own members in turning this dream into reality. The community centre will indeed be a New Year present to the New Panvelites and they will hope that Milantirtha will give many more reasons to smile in the near future.
