Ajay Gehi: "I avoid complex carbs as they take time to digest"
Vashi2Panvel.com: Navi Mumbai: December 2: If you are in the showbiz your body fitness tends to be your USP. Actors and models move an extra inch forward to shed their flab and stay fit and fine. They become role models for the thousands of viewers who rate them on their appearance, performance and of course fitness. “After all it’s the showbiz business. If you’re an actor you need to build muscles and tighten your abs,” says Ajay Gehi, the Milee actor ‘Rahul’.
Adding a food for thought he says “So we definitely need to compromise on our favourite foods and especially if junk foods top the fave food list!” As far as possible Ajay tries and avoids complex carbohydrates like sweets and pasta but prefers simple carbs. “Complex carbs take time to digest and settle in the body as fats leading to tiers around the tummy! So I avoid them,” he says. Ask him what his favourite cuisine is and pat comes the reply “Mughlai. I just adore Chicken Tikkas. But ironically my favourite dish happens to be a simple home made Dal chawal!” And meetha? “I just love walnut brownies.” Ajay follows a strict diet regime. Apart from working out in the gym for nearly five hours a week, he also works upon his diet and avoids food that work as poison. “Whenever I get time I go to the gym and exercise. If due to hectic schedules I am unable to exercise I make it up on my free days. But I ensure that I spare, if not more, then at least 5 hours a week for exercising and working on diet works round the clock,” he says. Ajay loves to eat fruits and that forms his staple diet. Besides he thrives mostly on proteinaceous diet to gain more energy and less calories. “I enjoy eating fruits like apple and water-melon. Besides, I concentrate more on proteins. So, I prefer to have eggs, fish, chicken, dal and green vegetables,” he says. Ajay’s favourite restaurant is Pletoria which he often frequents. “It’s a good place to hang out. You get casual food which tastes good too. I like its ambience, food…everything,” he says. Ajay Gehi started off debuting in ‘Maqbool’ with Irfan Khan as Guddu and later drifted to television with Milee. Right now he’s looking towards entering other forte as well like hosting shows and doing performances. So, for sure staying fit is on the top of his charts right now!
