How TV stars are celebrating Diwali
Vashi2Panvel.com: Navi Mumbai: October 26: Everyone wants to have fun on Diwali. Our television stars are no different. They believe in shooting round the clock, throughout the year, and partying during the Diwali break… if they get one! While a few want to sit at home and chill with friends, and family, a few want to work, especially on Diwali. They are all looking forward to the magnanimous festival, for one reason or another. We found out what the T.V artists have in mind for this Diwali.
Arjun Punj: This is the first time I will be celebrating Diwali in Mumbai. Previously I would fly to Delhi, to be with my parents there, but I am staying back this year. Diwali means the house has to be lit up with lights. I make sure that one day prior to and one day after Diwali – no work. That is the time to be with friends. A friend of mine hosts a Diwali bash every year, where the industry people too turn out in full force. Gurdeep and I will be attending that party. We’ll enjoy ourselves, play cards, that’s it. I haven’t decided on any outfit. Gurdeep is in the U.S. she said that she will pick up something for me to wear on Diwali. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed. Amit Sadh: Neeru (his fiancée) and I will be going to our ‘bhaiya – bhabhi’s’ place for dinner. Basically we will be chilling out with family this year. I am not against working on Diwali. I haven’t asked for a leave or such, because Neeru and I plan to take a month off in December, to go trekking and enjoy ourselves. Delnaaz Paul: I am a spontaneous person. I do whatever comes to my mind, on the last minute. But Rajeev and I make it a point to go and visit friends and family on that day. I personally feel, there is nothing better than working on Diwali. It’s like a fresh new start, and if your loaded with work on that day, I am sure you will be busy throughout the year. Benaaf: I am a parsee, so Diwali is not a big deal for us. I mean there is no puja and all, so I will just chill with my friends. I have an off on Diwali, no shooting. I am glad, because I am getting a break after a really long time. So I am planning to go out of town with friends. I’d probably burst a few crackers with my friends, to get the Diwali feel, that’s about it. As for outfit, I will wear just about anything that comes to my mind that day. Rupali Ganguly: Laxmi puja is a big affair at my home. Like every year, we will be hosting a laxmi puja at home. I would want to stay at home on Diwali, and I have never seen anyone going for shoots on Diwali day, all these years. Its not just us, but everyone on the crew needs a day off, especially on a festival as massive as this. I am going to wear a saree on Diwali, which will be designed by Satish Shah’s wife, she is a superb designer. I will try not to eat too many sweets this Diwali. My mom makes amazing karanjees, so I will try not to be tempted. Also I hate bursting crackers, firstly because of the damage it does to the environment. Secondly I have 3 dogs at home, and look after about 20 dogs in my area. I have appointed a person to look after them. I cant bear to see them suffer, because of mindless burning of crackers. Jaya Bhattacharya: I don’t celebrate any festival as such. This Diwali, I may probably make an alpana. Everyone is into the mood, so I would do little things like this, just for the heck of it. I haven’t even thought of any outfit or anything for the occasion. Ayub Khan: I will be in London on work this Diwali. I was shooting last Diwali as well. I would like to tell people to stop polluting, which mean no crackers. Spend your time praying instead. My wish is that I hope to win a lottery this year. A huge sum. I’d spend the money traveling and living a luxurious life, relaxing. My family does yell when I am working on Diwali day too. When my wife’s voice parameters go up, I know its time I take an off! Karishma Randev: I will be spending Diwali with my sister and her husband in Mumbai. Last Diwali I went to Delhi to spend time with my parents. My wish has come true and I wont be shooting that day. I purchased beautiful earrings to wear on Diwali. As for outfit I will either be wearing a suit or a jeans pant with a flowy top. Sujata Anthony Reddy
