DY Patil goes the Government way Mallika Sherawat and Rakhi Sawant seem to be the new role models of many college wannabes! And what if they happen to be the would-be doctors? Well, the biomedical girls of DY Patil College, Belapur used to attend lectures in what the Dean thought was ‘obscene’. So, he put a notice discouraging sleeveless, backless, minis and shorts but even that didn’t deter the bio-med girls from doing their like. So, in a bid to teach them a lesson the dean thought to go the ‘government way’. He imposed a ban on ‘indecent clothes’ with a fine of Rs.500 for those who disobey the ‘new rule’. The college amassed huge wealth from many who ignored the rule initially. Is this not a good example of the popular Hindi phrase ‘Ek Teer se do Shikar’ This friendship leaves all happy The B.Tech Biotechnology and Bioinformatics students of DY Patil College are rubbing their hands in glee these days. That’s because their proposal for an educational tour has been finalized. The students would leave the satellite city for the cyber city (Hyderabad, for all those who don’t know!) on the 24th of this month. The professors plan to give the students an insight into the working of the ‘info-processors’ in different biotech industries there. Don’t think the story is that exciting because a few are regretting the bomb amount (Rs.4000 ‘only’) that they need to shell out for the trip. But many seem fine with the idea for the week-long trip. Well, Chintamani wishes all a ‘happy and safe journey’! Food me kuch change hai SIES College foodies seem to be relieved these days. The nearby Rangoli Hotel has taken over the catering of the canteen. Gone are the days when oil dripped from the samosas, sambar tasted like ‘tadke wali daal’ and aloo paratha, like it was stuffed with the left overs of masala dosas’sabzi. Now students and staff can throng the canteen to relish the mouth watering Chinese, different types of rice, thali, paani puri, chat… and the list just goes on…. All this at a low cost and good quality. Hungry kya? Milap – 05 is here Evoking the past with cheer and glee is what the Management studies students of MGM College plan to do. Sunday would be the D-day for them as the students have organized the annual Alumni meet, Milap-05. The show includes Gupshup and ‘Alumni Ke Fasane’. Not only this, the College’s in-house magazine ‘Sanchetna’ along with the brochures 2004-06 will also be released on the same very day. Hold on! The organizers also plan a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the in-house magazine contest and the business quiz. (Phew!) Well, the masti doesn’t end here! The management students will then groove to the tunes of the DJ with their management ‘gurus’. And if the plan goes all well, there would be a grand dinner too! Well, that’s what Chintamani calls a ‘good-milap’.
