Reliance--first CDMA to start international roaming facility
Vashi2Panvel.com: Navi Mumbai: Aug 29: There is tough competition in the mobile service sector. Relaince Infocomm, the first Indian CDMA to offer the service is the first one to start an internationally roaming facility. Reliance Infocomm has established a pan-India, high-capacity, integrated (wireless and wireline), convergent (voice, data and video) digital network, to offer services spanning the entire Infocomm value chain.
The company has succeeded with its international roaming facility in countries like US, Israel, China, New Zealand and Indonesia and is planning to rope in other countries as well. 90% of Global CDMA is already covered with its 12 operators across three continents. Other countries on the anvil are the United States (in addition to Sprint), Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Canada. While tariff will differ from country to country, they will be highly competitive as there will be more services provided. Postpaid mobile subscribers will remain connected with their home, wherever they go. Also this facility will be available to others visiting the countries. This would be a service to the tourists also. Reliance Infocomm Ltd. is India's largest private information and communications services provider, with a subscriber base of over 12 million.
