Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: October5: In this series ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, we take a look at the NMMC corporators’ work, what they are delivering and if there have been any slip-ups. Here both corporators and residents come face-to-face. We now profile Corporator Mrs Sangeeta Vaske. She is responsible for NMMC Ward no.61, which covers Shivshkati Nagar, Turbhe. The whole area is called Turbhe stores, on the Thane- Belapur Road, Navi Mumbai.

It has been 16 years since Mrs Sangeeta Vaske has been staying in the Shivshkati Nagar, Turbhe. A couple of years ago she was elected as a city’s corporator from the Turbhe constituency. Currently she has also joined the bandwagon against the Gantagadi. She says that gantagadi must stop functioning as soon as possible and NMMC should take the garbage disposal in its hands.

She is…

A sincere NCP worker full of confidence and enthusiasm. She has been extensively working for women’s cause. She is known for organizing many cultural and traditional programs like Haldi Kunkum, Rangoli competitions, etc. Women of her constituency discuss their problems with Mrs. Vaske who tries to resolve them. Radatai Kulkarni is her mentor, who gives her assistance and guidance in Mrs Vaske’s work. Mrs Vaske credits her husband for her successful political career. Corporater Kulkarni’s guidance is also something that has helped Mrs Vaske immensely. She also runs a Non Governmental Organization ‘Prerna’, which works like a Balwadi and a health care center for the needy people.

What have I done for my ward:

She has set up 50 Mahila Buchet Gut in her ward and giving monetary support to more than1000 women. Mahila Buchet Gut train women residing in slum for self-employment. She has also renovated the NMMC School of her ward to improve the education system in NMMC schools. She gave assistance to unemployed youth by lending loans to buy rickshaws as well as tempos and for other self-employment. Besides this she has also provided sewing machines to widows and tri cycles to handicapped people of her ward. Cleanliness is another things that is on her priority list. Apart from all this a library and cultural center was build also from her fund.

What is pending:

She wants to start another Mahila Buchet Gut to sell the hand made products. And for that she has requested some land from the authorities. She also aims to start the door-to-door 42 hours water connection facility and water tanks as well as pipelines are already placed in all areas of her ward. This facility will be given to residents at the minimum deposit.

What are my plans:

Her main objective is to build houses under the Slum Rehabilitation Projects and give it to the slum dwellers free of cost. Social and economic stability of all women in my ward is something that currently I am focusing at. She also assured that by November more trains would start on the Thane- Vashi route.

Public Opinion:

Mrs. Dalvi, School Teacher in the NMMC school of Turbhe said: She is happy that one train in increasing on the Thane- Vashi route from today, but she feels that the train frequency should be increased in the peak hours.
