Siddhesh- running towards success
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: September 19: Today when Navi Mumbai is buzzing with many sportspersons hailing from different sports. There are also some budding sport persons, who are making their presence felt by leaving their mark in the various sports tournaments. Eight years old Fr.Agnel student Siddhesh Sambare falls in this category of upcoming sportsperson.
At this tender age, when most of the kids get busy with studies and other co-curricular activities, Siddhesh has already started making his place in many marathon and badminton tournaments. Thus making his city proud. Siddhesh took up badminton, when he was five-year-old and later went on to running, as he was required to built the stamina for the badminton tournaments. At this juncture his inclination towards running was first noted by his parent and sports coach Sandeep Kamath, who later encouraged him to participate in mini marathons. His talent first came into public eye, when he participated in Nestle Milo marathon (men category) in 2004 and covered 12 km in one hour seven minutes. Last year he covered four km in 19 minutes at Hungama Mulund marathon. Since then there was no looking back for this talented runner. He has proved his mettle in many marathons like Thane Marathon, Mini marathon Vashi, Beach run and many more. Lately, he covered three km in nine minutes and secured sixth position at Airoli Sports Association Marathon (under 12 boys category). “Siddhesh is blessed with good stamina that is unlikely to be seen in his age group. The best trait of Siddhesh is he does everything by his own will, right from his rigorous practice sessions to taking part in the sport events,” proudly says Siddhesh’s mother Vayjayanti Samabre Apart from running, Siddhesh is also keenly participating in the Badminton tournaments. This year he reached up to the quarter-final level at Thane District Badminton Tournament and All India Junior Badminton tournament (Under 10 category). This up-coming sport man draws inspiration from his sport coach Sandeep Kamath and idolizes with the international tennis player Roger Federer.“ I like to read story-books and books related to animals and hate to loose any competition,” states Siddhesh. He adds further, “My mom is the constant motivator in my life and I look forward to participate in many more marathons and badminton tournaments.” We wish all luck to this high-spirited and passionate young sportsman.
