Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: September 7:In this series ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, we take a look at the NMMC corporators’ work, what they are delivering and if there have been any slip-ups. Here both corporators and residents come face-to-face. We now profile Corporator Vitthal More. He is responsible for NMMC ward no.54, which covers Vashi Sectors 3,4 and 5.
Vitthal More, Corporater of Ward No. 54, i.e Sector 3,4,5 of Vashi and Shiv Sena President of Navi Mumbai. He is a resident of Navi Mumbai from 1977. He is a Corporater of NMMC from the time it was formed i.e. 1992. He is well known for his out spoken attitude among the journalists and his colleagues. One of the oldest Corporater in the NMMC he is there for the last 12 years and 3 terms.

He is a resident of Vashi sector 4. He was a part of Central Federation, which is supposed to be the mother committee to develop the Navi Mumbai area. He played a giant hand in making of the Shiv Vishnu temple in the area, which was a controversial issue a few years back. He was the founder member of Cosmopolitan Cricket Club that was made to promote the Navi Mumbai players. This was before the NMSA came into existence. He feels that after Vashi, CBD was the place that was developed and then came in Nerul and others. So, now after 30 years of development it has become necessary to look at it again.

What have I done for my wards?

I have cleaned the holding pond in my area by keeping a follow up of the issues. After the last 26th July disaster the pond had become dirty and full of mud. The pump house on the bank of the pond was also not working, so I have cleaned it with the help of CIDCO engineers.

I solved the problem of Ganesh Krupa Mandi, which has a fish market, and kanda battata market run by the Bhomi Putra (original residents) of Navi Mumbai. I have built up good shops for them.

I have planted more than 2500 trees in my wards out of which most of them are of fruits. This will help the youngsters of Navi Mumbai to get fresh fruits.

I have also developed a garden in that area of sector 4.

What is pending?

The Ghanta Gadi project is becoming a big failure as the Gadi comes once in a week only. Earlier there was one Dustbin for every 25 societies, so the Ghanta Gadi used to pick up the garbage every week. But now every society has a dustbin that has increased the Ghanta Gadi workload. The Ghanta Gadis’ number though has not increased as of now. I want to change the Ghanta Gadi process or at least increase in its number.

What are my plans?

Storm Water Drains in the area are blocked; I am planning to clean them. I want to widen and increase the depth of drains.

Involvement of residents in the area in developing the area by making them participate actively in the NMMC activities of the area.

Public Opinion

Ennette Fernandes, student of M.Com staying in sector 4 said that there is a problem of stray dogs in the area that she would like to be solved as soon as possible. She said that she knows the corporator of her area, as he is very popular there.
