Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: August 25: With reference to your article, ‘Panvel police station is now under Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner’ dated August 21, I would like to congratulate the authorities for this giant leap, but there are many other loop holes to be covered up like the city pot holes which have gone unattended since long. Secondly New Panvel by itself needs a new police station, as all are currently under the Kalmboli Police Station. The biggest and latest loophole is as follows…

The Mumbai Police is anxiously waiting for the Terrorist to come and register at the (M.S.Police) Registration Desk. Until 15th August ‘06 they were religiously standing and performing their duties. Today they don’t even see the need to stand up erect.

All the respective stations have a security desk for checking and frisking away materials, which are suspicious. But, on thorough probing visits to any stations will give you a sense of scare, anxiety and concern. We ask ourselves this question “in whose hands have we placed our security to safe guard us from terrorists and any miscreants?”

The journalists report about scores of incidents everyday. Take the Heathrow Airports story and its security movements. Let us compare the security personnel on a parallel frame with are own and you will come to conclusions that we are not only inferior, but out of contentions. We see the latter are all equipped and ever alert to a slightest adverse movement.

Comparatively our police personnel are safe guarding us with a stick, a News Paper, earplugs for music, colleagues for chatting, and tobacco for deserts. All this makes our security standards inferior, yet it is rated second after Scotland Yard in the world. The security personnel at Heathrow Airport are on the prowl and have vigilant eyes as opposed to ours who demonstrate that they are advertising for an adhesive company!

If the New Bombay police are on the move arresting two hundred odd illegal migrants of Bangladeshi origin than they need to be commended. On the other hand the Reay road station police are bypassing all these illegal migrants throughout the day without a single arrest. Keep it up Mumbai Police for your double standards thus welcoming a future terrorist attack in the near future
