‘We want more rickshaws’ say Kharghar residents
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: August 11: Get down at Kharghar station and you would wonder why are all the people running towards outside as if they are running a race. Just in a matter of short time, you would realize that it is actually a rat race- A race to catch auto rikshaws outside the station. The lesser number of autos in the station premises makes it quite taxing for the commuters to travel all the way to their respective places.
The location of the Kharghar station is one major reason why everyone has to resort to some transport vehicle. “The autos here do not even let people share and travel. It is very difficult for us to shell out money each time during traveling,” says Preeti Singh, a Kharghar resident. “The problem is worse in the peak hours, when it is more crowded. We do not even get an auto to go back,” says Vikrant Saluja, a Kharghar resident. On speaking to the auto drivers, the response was exactly opposite. “There are many autos here but also for this we are in talks with the Union and will decide soon on this issue,” says Prakash Kumar, an auto driver in Kharghar station. Others feel that the number of autos is less in Kharghar and it is difficult for the Union to manage. “The commuters are more and the number of autos less. We will definitely look into it,” says Deepak Pradhan, an autodriver. The commuters will have to wait and watch till the respective committee of the autodrivers settles the issue. Smriti Mishra
