Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: July 14: In this series ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, we take a look at the NMMC corporators’ work, what they are delivering and if there have been any slip-ups. Here both corporators and residents come face-to-face. The fourth in this series is Corporator Shashikant Birajdar. He belongs to ward no. 75, committed to work for Nerul Sector-15 & Sector-21.

Patil's Report Card
He is..
A simple looking 53 years old energetic worker packed with confidence. He was nominated as first Chairman of NMMC Standing Committee. He is at present Director of APMC Committee, Mumbai. A strong supporter of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) magnet Ganesh Naik, he has been given charge as Spokesman of NCP. He had won three times elections for NMMC Corporator in 1995, 2000 and last election in 2005. He was associated by NMMC in making important decisions on launching of NMMT buses, Nerul MCH hospital, Vashi Super Specialty Hospital, proposing Amusement Park at Mhape etc.


What have I done for my wards?

“I have arranged renovation of Guru Nanak Garden and Kalpana Chawla Garden at sector-19.
I have recommended names for different roads and places at Nerul where all religions have been properly taken care like Shankracharya Road, Ayappa Chowk, Abdul Hamid Marg, Jama Masjid Chowk, Guru Nanak Garden, Mother Teresa Udyan, JJ Luis Marg, Ambedkar Udyan, Bhagwan Mahavir Marg, Jhulelal Bridge etc.
I have organised to build a multipurpose building (Gr.+3 floors) costing about Rs. 45 Lakhs on a 2000 sq.mt. Plot at sector-11, which will include a community hall, gymnasium, study rooms etc. The job is under progress and it will be completed by 2007 end.


What is pending?
“I have proposed for a Gymnasium at sector-21, on a 2000 sq.mt. plot. Budget provision for Rs. 55 Lakhs is made by NMMC.

I have proposed for the new ward office at Nerul sector-21; budget provision for Rs 63 Lakhs is made by NMMC.

The MCH hospital (Mother Child Hospital) at sector-15, having 50 beds built 10 years back, has to be converted to a general hospital with 100 beds

What are my plans?
I have proposed for a Super Specialty Hospital on a 10,000 sq.mt. plot at suitable location in Nerul.

I am planning for a Theater/Sabhagruha at Nerul; for building a swimming pool at Yashwantrao Chavan Kreedangan , sector-19 and for a Science Garden at Jija Mata Udyan.

Public Opinion

SK Gunjal Office Manager of Shiv Parvati Housing Society Sector 21, said, "The Ghanta Gadi sometimes does not come, or if comes it is too late - in the afternoon. Sweeping of roads is done properly only when some leader is expected. The branches of trees trimmed off are lying for days together on the side of the road."

Sheikh Sajid Khan from Vighna-Hare Society said, " You can see the garbage heap on the other side of the road there, still lying and not collected by Ghanta Gadi."

Mohammed from Alankar Furnishings, Aakarshan Building, Sctor-15 said "We know he is a respnsible person, from Maha Palika, representing our area but we have not tried to contact him as, we have no problem in this area pertaining to shop keepers."

Kamaljit Kaur from Deep Geet Society sector -15 and Rajeev Sharma from Trimurthy society sector-15 said, " At night there is great nuisance due to stray dogs, for which we have complained to authorities, but problem still persists."
