Computers: A constantly evolving field
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: July 12: “Computers is a constantly evolving field.” This is how Akshita Saxena, a 2006 graduate in B.Tech (Computer Science) from Baba Saheb Ambedkar Technological University (BATU), Lonere puts it. The recent boom in the field of software has raised the number of aspirers for the course. The course structure is such that it holds a lot of value in any industry of present world to run appropriately. There are so many continuous changes associated with the field that it leaves no scope for stagnation. “The subjects in the course are so knowledge oriented with a lot of space left for invention and self interpretation. This is the right course for someone who gets fed up easily. There is so much to learn and apply that you cannot even think of getting bored,” says Akshita. “Algorithms and Computer Networks are my favourite subjects in the course because in algorithms you can constantly think of new ideas and technologies to apply them for a new invention. You can derive your own codes and thus a new program can run on those lines,” she explains.
On asking further about Computer Networks, she elucidates that the world today is depending on the networks and there is no economic transaction, which is possible without the proper network connection around the globe. “ This is the line where you can develop numerous ways to support faster communication and thus eventually contribute towards making this place a better place to live in, “she says gladly. Ask her about her college and she is all in praises. “Mine is an ‘A’ grade government college which is located in outskirts of the city. There are many restrictions about the code of conduct in the college but it all adds to the discipline maintained in the college. The college has an academic environment very different from other colleges. There are rigorous exams throughout the year and thus making us perfect till the time of the board exams,” she informs. “The most important aspect is the strong alumni association of the college. The seniors are always willing to help you in any situation,” she adds. On asking about the college infrastructure she replies that we have a good laboratory facilities and with a recent grant from World Bank it is going to develop even more now. “Computer engineering is very different from the Electronics and telecommunications branch as the former is very programming based and deals specifically in hardware and softwares while latter is mainly towards improving ways of communication,” enlightens Akshita. As the software market is on a high these years, there are a lot of companies, which are coming to college for placements. To the aspirers of the course Akshita says, “It is a very imaginative field to opt for. If you have interest to track technological developments and create one by yourself, this is the best option for you. Like in any field here also you have to prove your worth to be placed in some good company.” As told to Smriti Mishra
