Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: July 6: “Bonded to the place”, this is a phrase which best describes Surekha Kudchi, a well known Marathi film actress who is a New Panvel resident. So much is her attachment to Panvel that despite the fame and money she has earned over the years, the thought of moving to another area has never even struck her mind.

Surekha was born and brought up in Panvel. Although Surekha comes from an army background she decided to opt for the art industry because that is where her inclination always lay. This well acclaimed Marathi actress has been in the entertainment industry since seven years now.

Although Surekha is contended with her decision to enter the film industry today and is happy with the kind of work coming across her way, this was not essentially her first career option, “Dance was my life, but then films happened. I have not ever taken any formal training in dance but as you say some talents are inborn, dance was like god’s gift to me,” she exclaims.

Queering her about her journey in the entertainment biz, she replies, “I wanted to make a career in Dance when one of my friends, who stays in Vashi told me about an ongoing screen test for a film, Ashi Asasi Sasu and they were looking out for some new faces. I gave the screen test and got selected for the role,” avers the talented actress.

So much is her love for dance that she just can stop raving about it. “For me dance was always my first priority, acting came much later in life, but yes after I got selected for my first film I started gaining keen interest in the field,” she adds. Presently she is very much contented with the work she is being offered and satisfied with direction her life is heading in.

On asking, if distance and residing in outskirts of Mumbai has ever had a toll on her professional life, she says, “It was in the earlier days that I faced some problems but now I am used to it,”
She is completely in awe of talking about her hometown Navi Mumbai, where she has spent most of her memorable moments. “I don’t think I can live anywhere else. I have spent my whole life in Panvel and would like to do so further also,” opines Surekha. “I have fond memories of various places and things in Panvel. I have done my schooling from K.V.Kanya Vidyalaya, Panvel. I have all my friends based here. It is so hard to forget all these beautiful things which are so closely associated with my life,” she further adds. The reminiscences of her childhood in Panvel have kept her rooted to this place.
