Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: June 28: In our new series ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, we take a look at the corporators’ promises, what they are delivering and if there have been any slip-ups. Here both corporators and residents come face-to-face. The second in the series is NMMC Corporator Sabu Daniel, a 39 years old energetic worker who has been associated with NMMC for the last 10 years. He had worked in CBD sectors 2, 8, 8B, Artists village. Recently he has been nominated as NMMC representative on Central Railway Users Consultative Committee.

What have I done for my ward?

“For the last ten years, I have worked for the welfare of the poor and needy through various trusts like Mata Mission. I have arranged an ambulance, which is available free to the poor. I give financial and moral support to HIV infected people. I’ve also extended a help to the poor students by paying for their tuition fees, notebooks etc.

What are my plans?

I want to ensure that the standard of NMMC schools is improved. Only providing clothes, shoes and food to the students is not the real work. We have to prepare them for future competitions.

I strongly recommend the formation of a strong disaster management troupe. I have already spoken to the authorities about this.

I want the people to protect trees and mangroves. I wish to recommend a green revolution in this satellite city. I have already discussed my plans in this matter with Shri Sanjiv Naik and you will see some good work in this direction.

I have plans to set up Auditoriums at Nerul and CBD, similar to Vishnudas Bhave Hall Vashi or may be smaller than it.

I have a strong opinion that every citizen here should have an official Citizen Card. I have a keen desire to develop the waterfall of sector 8 and Killa Gaothan as a Tourist spot. I want to set up well-planned Rickshaw Stands in the city, taking in to confidence their various unions.

Now recently when I have been nominated as NMMC representative on Central Railway Users Consultative Committee, I will study the problems of the suburban railway users, recommend improvement in their services, train frequencies, infrastructure - railway stations, platforms, toilets etc. A lot of improvement is required in the Ghanta Gadi management. A public awareness work must also begin."

Public Opinion

Dr.G.Jagdeeshwar Reddy, a Dental Surgeon, G-37 says, "Personally we didn't face any problem here. However, from our patients and others we have come to know that Daniel is a very co-operating man."

Ankush Kokate a movie photographer, residing at Sector 2 says, "Sabu Daniel has done a lot of good jobs for this ward. However, our main problem regarding wiring of about 350 houses of Sector-2 is still to be taken up. We have told him about this. Let us see when he takes up the matter with CIDCO or other authorities concerned.

Shravan & Bhushan Thakur operating a Banjo Party from Adivasi Nagar, Sector-8 says, "Sabuji is an excellent person who is ready to come for any help to anybody even if you call him at midnight. Our only grievance is the poor bus frequency in this area and we are sure he will sort out this also."
