Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: June 21: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation boasts of 95 corporators who make claims of improving and revamping the city. They make an attractive manifesto to pull the vote-bank but not all stand by their initial promises once they make it to the office. In our new series ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, we take a look at what they’ve promised, what they are delivering and if there have been any slip-ups. Here both corporators and residents come face-to-face. We kick-start the series with Vilasrao Kadam, Corporator, Ward no. 83 (CBD Belapur sectors 1A, 3, 6, and 11).

Kadam’s Report Card

He is…
A Post Graduate and PhD, in Pharmaceutical. A soft-spoken man, Kadam is also quite hard working. His elder brother Patangrao Kadam is the founder of Bharti Vidyapeeth Group of Educational Institutions.

What have I done for my ward?
“I’ve ensured that the compound walls of CIDCO buildings in sectors 3, 6 and 1A is completed. Mahakali Chowk Rotary Club Fountain has also been installed as promised. Besides, the work of concrete pave blocks on the footpath has also been completed.

Also, construction of roads in sector-6 is in full swing. We are also looking towards the development of Hegadewar garden in Sector1-A. High mask light fixing at bus stops is another work that is high on our agenda.

We are waiting for an approval of the development of a parking zone near NMMC building, Sector 11. Once that happens we can start the work immediately.”

What is pending?

Sector- 11 Beautification of Sarovar Vihar.
Sector- 10, Beautification of Bhau Saheb Patil Chowk.
Sector-6, to put Concrete Pave Blocks on footpath from Aishwarya Hotel to Varsha Society.

Public Opinion

Dr. Bhatnagar from Kukreja Society says, "The beautification of Sarovar Vihar is pending since long. This was promised when the Corporator visited us during his elections campaign."

S Karnani, the President of CBD Sector-11 Residents' Association complains, "Near Chawla Complex sand mining is creating a lot of air and noise pollution. This matter was pointed out time to the local corporator Vilasrao Kadam. But nothing has been done.”

Ganguly, President of Senior Citizens Association from Gautam Tower said, "Recently theft cases in flats have increased. Also, Ghanta Gadi is not collecting garbage on time"
