Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: June 16: Sikhs all over the country are celebrating the martyrdom -‘Shahidi Divas’ of their 5th guru Guru Arjun Devji.On this occasion they have arranged a grand ‘Langar’, mass distribution of food.

In Navi Mumbai they have installed water counters right from Vashi to Panvel and Turbhe to Airoli. They are also distributing chilled mango drink to each and every person who passes from there providing some relief from this sultry season.

“Our fifth guru, Guru Arjun Devji, was made to sit on an iron plate and hot sand was poured on his head. He was tortured like this by the then Mughal emperor Jahangir. He is considered as a martyr and we celebrate his death anniversary every year. Today being the 400th year, it’s time for grand celebrations,” informs Gurucharan Singh, one of the volunteers at the distribution counter in Nerul station.
