Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: June 2: MTV’s humour has migrated from the small screen to the big screen with their first movie ‘Ghoom’ which has been released nation wide on 2ndJune. The grand premiere of this 45-minute action flick was held at Inox, Nariman Point yesterday and saw the presence of various celebrities from the glamour industry. ‘Ghoom’ which is basically a spoof of Dhoom has come in a bit late yet before Dhoom2, and as they say better late than never.
Seen attending the premier show of the movie were several top names from the film industry, from film directors like Sanjay Gadhvi (Dhoom) and Kunal Kohli (Fanaa) to music producers/composers like Pritam (Ghoom) and Bappi Lahiri. Well known singing sensations Usha Uthup, Raghav Sacchar, Shivani Kashyap, Babul Supriyo, Mikka, The Band of Boys and Pratichee were also seen at the premiere. Besides Anupama Verma and Sanobar Kabir, the entire cast of the movie was seen at the premiere. Various other celebrities such as Jai Kalra and Rajesh Kumar better known as Roseish of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ were present to cheer up the MTV cast. MTV VJs Ramona, Nikhil, and Anoushka were seen in their usual jolly and lively mood. Sumeet Raghavan known for his role in ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ plays the role of a cop who is trying to nab a gang of 5 biker thieves who also double up as pizza delivery guys. As in Dhoom the only way to catch these thieves is to bully someone to join the biker team so as to foil the next robbery attempt. Thus enters the mechanic Ajay Gehi of ‘Maqbool’ fame who turns out to be a bigger idiot. The stellar cast also comprises Gaurav Kapoor, who’s done shows like ‘Dil Kya Chahta Hai’ along with Benika and Purbi Joshi. This comedy flick is complete with silly romance scenes, amusing cops and robber chases, and an excellent performance by the entire cast. Summet Raghavan has done an outstanding performance as the cop. Ajay Gehi has also proven his acting prowess in this comic role with stupendous performance. ‘Ghoom’ which has been directed by Saket Chowdhary, who already has Dil Kya Chahta Hai and The Great Indian Laughter Show in his kitty has yet again proven his ability to bring about humour in his films. Ghoom is a typical Mtv fully fultoo endeavor and proves it too. it is definitely worth a dekho both for the hilarity as well as the terrific performance by the entire cast. The World Television Premiere of ‘Ghoom’ will air on MTV on June 17, 2006. The channel also plans to launch the DVD of the movie very soon. Ansy Austin India News Feauture Service
