Welcome monsoons with a word of caution, say Navi Mumbai doctors
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: June1: After witnessing the tragic monsoon previous year and the dread of epidemics people this year are more skeptic about the arrival of monsoons. As the rains head towards the city, the trepidation about the health issues in the minds of the people have increased. Everyone is worried about the impendig diseases that would accompany the rains.
The main cause of worry is the garbage. This when combines with rain water stinks even more and acts as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes and pests. “People should be more careful about hygiene in the eatables and the surroundings where they stay,” says Dr. R. Kotak of New Panvel. “The problems will be less if they are aware of the diseases which mostly occur in rainy season. They should be responsible and just take care of a few precautions,” he adds.
The most deadly disease which largely affects people during this time is Malaria. It is caused by female anopheles mosquitoes that breed in the garbage and stagnant water. People should take basic care about things like use of mosquito nets and repellants. They should see to it that the places in their vicinity are unsoiled and they should also make sure that there is no scope for the germs to multiply.
“By spraying pesticide and germicide in and around your areas, the citizens can be assured that they are protected from many deadly diseases,” informs Dr. Kotak. For this the civic authorities must be too alert and take actions. Cholera, jaundice and typhoid are other diseases which are caused due to contaminated water. The citizens should make sure that they boil water before drinking or rather they should use aquaguard water. These water borne diseases are prone to occur in this season.
These days it is very helpful if people avoid having food at the road side food joints and take care about the cleanliness in preparation of food. People should clean their floors with Phenyls and floor cleaners so that there are no germs budding there. “People should see that they are taking some precautions towards their own benefit,” says Dr. Kathuria, who is a practicing doctor at M.G.M. Hospital. “If people are responsible towards their own activities, many of the epidemics can be avoided,” he adds.
So this year it’s all fun, ecstasy, joy which is associated with rains, no more fright and infirmity…all set to be hale and hearty in rains.
