Parlour Talkies
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: May 27: Twinkle Beauty Parlour is a new daily soap on SAB TV which has been launched from May 15, and is going to be aired from Mondays to Thursdays at 9.00 pm. The story unfolds in the locales of Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, which is a typical middle class locality, full of vigour and hustle bustle of the streets and in one of the streets is situated “Twinkle Beauty Parlour”. The five protagonists of the show; Ranjana, Niyati, Sameera, Ragini and Fatima Bi are distinct in their personality yet there is one thing that is common to all - Twinkle Beauty Parlour is the place wherein they unwind, share experiences of their lives, conflicts and revelation. They represent the various social strata of the women in society.
Talking about the show Narayani, who plays the protagonist in the show and essays the character of Ranjana, informs us that the show is completely different from the others shows on air today, “It is nothing like you see on television today. You won’t find the sari clad women and the typical rona dhona in this show. I can guarantee you that the show is a good break from what you see otherwise.” Talking about the genre that the show falls under Narayani says that it is difficult to place Twinkle Beauty Parlour in one particular genre, “the show has its share of comedies, drama, thrill and suspense, so it would be hard for me classify it in one particular genre.” According to Narayani every show has to have one particular epicentre and in case of Twinkle Beauty Parlour she believes that her character is the most important and the script more or less moves around it, “My character is the most pivotal. Although eventually every character has a lot of scope to perform but the fact is the Ranjana is the one who owns the parlour and the other characters are the ones who visit this parlour. Also my character is of an intense nature as Ranjana has gone through a lot in life and has learnt a lot through her experiences,” informs Narayani. Talking about the show and the channel she asserts that it is not the channel but the production house and the people you work with that matters, “I am happy to work with Shrishti Arya because I have known her from before and she is a nice person. She has also made hit shows like Remix and India Calling and one thing you will notice about her is that all her shows are a class apart,” opines Narayani. Talking about what she feels about the production house she says, “It would not be right on my part to say that the production house is completely mind blowing but it would also be wrong to say that it is bad,” states the actress. Being modest about her opinion she believes that although the production house has made a super hit show like Remix, she would not like to believe that the show is as good as the kind of hype it enjoys. “I think although Remix is a great show it has still not been able to make the kind of impact Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has been able to make on the nation. But I am also very confident that Twinkle Beauty Parlour will be able to make the nation sit up and notice it, so I am quite positive about the show doing well,” avers Narayani. Although Twinkle Beauty Parlour is the first big show that SAB TV has launched and although the channel has not had a great past success record, Narayani Shastri did not have any qualms to do the show, “Like I told before a channel doesn’t matter, the character and the production house does and I feel at the end of the day it is the job of a actor to do well. Also SAB TV has now been taken up by Sony Pvt Ltd and I am quite contended with the promotions that the channel has provided the show,” suggests the actress. The channel has indulged in a lot of in-the-face promotions. In the last few days the advertisements have been such that one cannot help but notice, whether those be the ads about moustached ladies or claiming about a new parlour opening up in your neighbourhood. These ads play around with the imagination of the common man and have brought about an enthusiasm in the minds of the people, with so many outdoor promotions the expectations of the people in the show reach the heights but Narayani seems to be quite convinced that the show deserves the kind of promotion that it is attaining, “ I think if the show is good then why not promote it? The show has been made beautifully, there is nothing negative about it so I feel it will be able to live upto the expectations of the people,” asserts Narayani before signing off.
