Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: May 24: CBSE results were declared yesterday. All the CBSE schools and students waited with much anticipation for the results. Officially, the topper in Mumbai is a Panvel resident Nihita Pandey who scored a cool 96.6%. Unfortunately, all the mainstream print and broadcast media overlooked her. According to the press, Colaba resident Tejas Yadav who scored 96.4% is the Mumbai topper. Vashi2Panvel.Com spoke to Nihita to get her reactions…

“I had already apprehended this. My school, JH Ambani High School is in a deserted place so it would be difficult for any media to come all the way. Even Panvel, where I stay is amongst the remote areas. I don’t feel bad with the fact that someone else is being slated to be the topper. I know that I’ve secured more marks and I’m extremely happy with this fact.

I was quite optimistic about being a school topper because all through the year I had been topping in my class. But I had never imagined that I would top the city. It came in as a very pleasant surprise when my headmistress Parvesh Kushal Madam called me up to give me this good news.

I never faced any peer pressure. I was competing with myself throughout. I had challenged myself and that was my only pressure. During the last board exams (when I was in class tenth), I was not keeping well. I stood second in the class. That was the only time when I stood second. So this was the only opportunity for me to show my talent. I had decided to work hard and do my best.

The one person I would like to thank for this is my parents. They have always supported me. I never felt any depressing moment anytime in the year. They always instilled the confidence in me.

Now I’ll be leaving the school and moving out to a college for higher studies. I’ll definitely miss the school. The teachers in the school treat you in a very warm manner. The school environment is quite pleasant. I have no idea how would my college life be but my school memories would always be with me. "
