INDUSTRY AND PROSPECTS :
Executive Search (ES) has indeed come of age and is now Rs.10000 cr industry [authentic figure derived from the service tax records.] growing at 20% p.a. employing 80,000 personnel. In the last three years the industry has ballooned: the growth in 2006 - 07 over 2005 - 06 is 403 % & as compared to 2004 - 05, it is 1957 %. , astounding, isn’t it ?
Globally, it’s a USD 500 billion industry (The figure includes job board too) dominated by several large players. In U.K. for a mere 6 crore population, there are 12,000 recruiters and the market leader has a meager 4% market share. Fourteen companies in this industry have revenues in excess of USD 1.00 bn ! The flexi staffing industry itself is at an astronomically USD 220 bn. and growing phenomenally. Along the lines of BPOs and the KPOs, the Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) industry is ballooning with a huge revenue and employment potential. Already, as on march 2007, there are 65 companies in the RPO space.
The industry consists of big, medium and small players and in the last six years leading MNC Search Companies have set up shop in the country. This is a testimony to the phenomenal potential the ES industry holds in this country. Today, there are 20,000 [repeat 20,000!-- authentic figure derived from the service tax records] recruitment consulting companies operating across the country. The industry has been in existence in India for over 35 years now, and globally over 90 years. Our industry now also has an association called the Executive Recruiters Association of India (ERA). ERA as of march 07,had over 140 accredited members. IRS is a member firm of ERA.
In the good old days, those who didn’t fair well entered this industry. But no more. ES now, is a proper career option in the service industry and all reputable ES companies recruit only Engineer- MBAs as Consultants. ERA in fact is working on a curriculam for a full time post graduate diploma in Executive Search & Selection.
The career prospects envisaged are truly phenomenal. There is plenty of money. A successful ES consultant can actually amass a small fortune. After a blazing stint of a couple of years, you can set up your own shop, or be the most sought after Executive in either Operations / Business Development / Marketing, in any of the Service Industries.
YOUR ROLE
As the positions being handled at Internet Recruiting Solutions (IRS) carry an average CTC of Rs.15 lakhs p.a. and above, ES assumes role of Knowledge Management necessitating phenomenal amount of learning.
You will have independent charge of ES and Selection assignments with a mandate to ‘close’ the open positions. At any given point, you will be actioning atleast 12-15 positions, simultaneously. As we are a ‘Key Account’ oriented company, highest level of Client Servicing is sine qua non. Executing retained Search assignments (targeted Head Hunting from select companies, more on this later) will be a key constituent of your portfolio. Relationship management with clients and senior candidates (typically functional heads) and Business Development will merit close involvement.
In specific terms, you will identify the right talent from various sources; sell & package opportunities (the open positions), Tele-interview & interview select candidates and present (sell) these to client companies. Further, you will facilitate CTC package negotiations (a delicate task at Sr. levels) and closely monitor (yes monitor!) your candidates until they join client companies. You will be variously involved in all the stages/processes, which are actually a lot more complicated, daunting and exciting than what they sound. You cannot imagine the thrill of placing a V.P at a CTC of 35 odd lakhs, or providing career guidance to corporate head honchos; yes its very much part of your baggage! Training and guiding subordinates too is an important function.
You will have direct responsibility for executing numerous Search assignments. ES is a ‘Rolls Royce’ service offered to discerning clients. A delicate, elaborate and pains taking exercise, Search is the most cost-effective, often the only way of attracting senior/top management and specialist professionals. Scientific methodology, strong research base and subtlety characterize Search assignments. Search entails listing the targeted companies, identifying the high-fliers, researching their track record, zeroing in on a select few, and ‘getting them around’. If systematic researching is a Science, converting a disinterested professional to a definite prospect is an Art. You will be constantly perfecting this Art and Science, at IRS.
The Openings are at Senior & Junior levels. Ours is a flat structure and your hierarchy, fitment, and CTC will be determined entirely by how INDEPENDENTLY you can operate. We are looking for intrapreneurs - that says it all !! At junior levels we seek those, who can provide an excellent support to all the ongoing tasks/activities outlined above, and who can quickly grow in their roles.

Desired profile of the candidate
You are Staying at a commutable distance from Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Those from outside Bombay or distant western suburbs need not write. We are seeking young men & women, who would be keen on charting out a career in the Executive Search Industry. You will have 2-10 years experience, which could be in any industry, in any function. Multi functional exposure will be a big plus. We are seeking certain base qualities, and if you have these, it doesn’t really matter what functional stream you come from. Those from the Service Industry/Customer Services may have a slight advantage.
You have excellent communication skills, both written & oral, are a quick learner, adept at “packaging & selling”, persistent, and resourceful enough to produce a Vice-President from Timbaktu !!!
We are also open to dialoguing with those admirable ladies who have had to take a break in their career and are now on a career come back trail. Likewise, we are pragmatic and not very fussy about the age.
